Getting started is scary, especially if you don’t know what to expect.
My office is located at Being Human Club, which is on the southwest side of downtown Calgary.
Google Maps will take you to the right place, but it can be intimidating to navigate any area you may not be familiar with. See below for tips and photos to orient you before your first session.
224 11 Ave SW #301, Calgary, AB T2R 0C3
Getting here
2 hour street parking is available on 11th ave and on 1st street. There are also paid parking lots near the building, highlighted in yellow in the image below. The office is a 10 minute walk from the 1st or 3rd street train station.
once you’re here…
The office is on the third floor of the 224 building. Come in through the main doors and climb four flights of stairs to the top. You’ll see Being Human Club signage on the door. This door is always locked (for security reasons). Ring the doorbell to the right of the door handle and I’ll let you in as soon as I can.
Note that the main doors from the street are locked outside of business hours (Saturdays and on weekdays after 5:30pm). Before your session, Sarah will meet you at these doors and let you in. Because of this, it’s best not to come early to your session. Otherwise you might be waiting outside in the cold!
Accessibility note:
The elevator is not currently functioning in the building. We have been advocating for it to be fixed, but unfortunately the office is not accessible to folks with limited mobility. I will update my website if that changes.
Washrooms are gender neutral and available for clients to use.

Yes!

Absolutely. We also have coffee, tea, and water available for clients.

There are two comfy waiting areas available for a support person or driver or older child to wait while you’re in a session. You’re welcome to bring them! And if you have a baby, you are absolutely welcome to bring your baby to your individual or couples session. There are change tables in the washrooms.

Nothing! In terms of paying for sessions, I take e-transfer and credit card, so if you choose to pay by credit card, bring that. But otherwise I don’t require you to bring anything to counselling. Some things you’re welcome to bring if you want are a water bottle, a notepad if you like to take notes, and a sweater (it gets a little chilly in the old building!)

There are gender neutral washrooms available for client use. However, sadly, the space is not accessible for people with limited mobility or use a wheelchair. I do offer virtual counselling.
